| On Sunday, December 12th, 2010 at about 1:00 AM, Plattsburgh City Police were summoned to 122 Court Street for an assault complaint. Upon the offcer's arrival, they located a male with a stab wound who provided a description of the suspect who had already fled the scene. The male victim was transported to CVPH to be treated for his injuries. |
Since that time, Plattsburgh Police Detectives have been investigating leads associated with this case and yesterday, located the suspect, Joshua Fontenot, in New York City. He was arrested and transported back to Plattsburgh where he is awaiting arraignment.
It is alleged that Fontenot, who is not a college student, was at a party at 122 Court Street when he argued with the victim and then struck him in the head with a golf club. That incident resulted in an altercation which was broken up by police. After the police left, it is alleged that Fontenot and another male returned to 122 Court Street and Fontenot stabbed the victim with a knife.
Fontenot has been charged with 2 counts of Assault 2nd Degree and 2 counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon. He will be arraigned in City Court later today.
